STATE PRINTING.

By reference to the constitution of our new State, it will be observed that the printing of our laws, journals of the Legislature, blanks for the different departments, etc., has been left an open question, and their execution to be provided for by the approaching session of the Legislature. As Nevada is now a State, it is expected that she will be able to have this kind of work done more in accordance with her position as a State, than the style it had been executed in when she was a Territory. Some of the printers of this State have been "casting around" to ascertain who was most entitled to, and competent for the position of STATE PRINTER, and several of them have designated the senior editor and proprietor of the Gold Hill News. Upon this subject the Esmeralda Daily Union lets itself loose upon our devoted head in the following style:

FOR STATE PRINTER.—To-day we place the name of Phillip Lynch, editor and part proprietor of the Gold Hill News, at the head of our columns as a candidate for the position of State Printer. The Constitution of the State makes no provision for the office, but confers power upon the Legislature to create such offices, not provided for in the Constitution, as may be necessary for the complete administration of the government; and as the Legislature will probably create that office at an early period of its session, we respectfully submit the claims of our candidate to the consideration of that body.

Mr. Lynch formerly published the Placer Courier, at Forest Hill, California, where he battled manfully for the cause of liberty and justice, at a time when it was unsafe in that section for a Union man to raise his voice in behalf of his country. Since he commenced publishing the Gold Hill News, Mr. Lynch has pursued the same fearless course, and the immense Union majority given at that place in the late election, attests the influence he has exerted against the Copperhead party.

Mr. Lynch has a good office and abundant material to enable him to do the State printing with promptness and in the best possible manner; and the typographical appearance of his paper—the News—is a sufficient guarantee that he has the ability to render satisfaction. We present the name of Mr. L. to the consideration of the Legislature as that of a gentleman in every respect well qualified for the position of State Printer. No person in the State is more deserving, and if the office is created by the Legislature, we hope to see him get the appointment.
