Currently visiting Atlanta on a Student Exchange Project are twenty-six students and teachers from the University of the West Indies.
Touring the United States under the direction of the Association for World Travel Exchange, the group arrived in the city around 7 p. m., last night and were assigned lodging accommodations at the Atlanta colleges. Local co-sponsors are the Atlanta Chapter of The Frontiers of America and the Atlanta Junior Chamber of Commerce. The visitors will be guests of the Frontiers Club through Monday morning and the Jaycees will be the official hosts thereafter. According to Jesse O. Thomas, president of the Atlanta Chapter of The Frontiers of America, the purpose of the visit is to give the visitors an idea of life and education in Atlanta.
TO VISIT MAYOR'S OFFICE
The visitors and their escorts will visit the Mayor's office Monday around 1 p. m., and will be officially welcomed. Last night the visitors were guests at a dinner at Frazier's Cafe Society, with H. L. Alston, chairman of the Project Committee presiding. Dinner speakers included Mr. Thomas, Robert Luitweiler and M. T. Purdy. Today, the visitors will attend church and will be conducted on a sight-seeing tour in the afternoon. At 7:30, they will attend the Exchange Hour at Kresge Hall, Clark College, with Harold Hamilton, host, and Floyd W. Sullivan, presiding. Present will be faculty and student representatives from Atlanta University, Clark College, Gammon Theological Seminary, Morehouse College, Morris Brown College and Spelman College. Music will be furnished by Clark College under the direction of Dr. J. DeKoven Killingsworth.
TO VISIT SCHOOL, BUSINESSES
Divided into six groups, the University of West Indies students will visit the Atlanta colleges, Atlanta Public Schools, beauty colleges, business colleges businesses and other places of interest on Monday morning. Following the conference at the Mayor's Office, the visitors and members of the Frontiers Club will join the members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce on a tour of Georgia Tech, Emory University and the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. The Evaluations program will be held at the Sarah Allen Quadrangle, Morris Brown College, with Dean E. J. Odom, of Turner Theological Seminary, presiding. The visiting students include: Ivy Campbell, Jean Atrobus, Joseph Alfred, Albert Chung, Raymond Guild, Stuart Lacy James Wah, Hugh Moss Solomon Rosston Nettleford. Marion Newton, Said Ali Shah, Dwight Whylie, Lawrence Wilson, Red Woo-Ming. Dorothy King, Holly Morgan. Marie Campbell, Calvin Anthony Wong. Hugh Wynter, Ericsson George Monroe. Edwin Chin Shcng Mrs. Valerie King Hewett, Danhne Andrews. Freda Rose Farrell and Mary Brathwaite.
