GENERAL INTELLIGENCE.

Another Steamboat Explosion.—We learn from the Cincinnati Advertiser of the 15th ult. that the Steamboat Huntress, on her way from New Orleans, at the mouth of the Ohio, burst her boiler, by which circumstance from three to five persons were killed. This is the third or fourth accident of the kind which has occurred on the Western waters within the last two months. The destruction on board the Helen M'Gregor dwells in the memory of every one: the number of lives lost on board the William Tell, on the 16th of March, near Red River, was four or five. Something must be speedily done to prevent the recurrence of such distressing accidents, or the owners of Steamboat property will become bankrupts.—Bost. Gaz.
