School is making excellent progress.
The enrollment is good regardless of the fact that some are picking cotton.
Interest in athletic activities is beginning to manifest itself.
The prospect is excellent for a strong basketball team this year.
More interest in literary efforts will be realized soon, as there will be a literary society organized in the near future.
There has been considerable competition between members of the freshman class in High School to determine who would obtain the highest general average during the past month. After monthly examinations and careful grading of daily recitations, it was found that Arthur Wettrigel obtained an average of 92% for first place. Nellie Ryan came in second with an average of 88% and Homer Shirk third with an average of 88. It might be well to add here that Clara Lodes made an average of 87% or just a fraction less than second place. She too is an excellent student. With just a little extra work new names will appear with the chosen few.
The other classes in high school are doing equally as well.
The first literary exercises have been set for one week from next Friday night, Oct. 21.
(Note-This paper would be pleased to have each teacher furnish the four highest in each grade at the end of each month.)
