Full Text
Mr Ritchie, of the Richmond Enquirer, has fallen suddenly in love with New England interests. In a rejoicing article on the passage of the Texas resolutions in the House, he "rejoices" for the sake of New England whose manufactures and whose shipping will receive a new impulse from the markets of Texas. This overflowing of brotherly love for the North, elbows too much abuse for the same section to make an impression of sincerity. If it was not foreseen by this very print that annexation would give everything to the South without conferring the smallest benefit upon the Free States, we should have a bugle blast of warning from the old seneschal that would wake the echoes of the Alleghany mountains.
