Latest from China.—The N. Y. Herald’s Hong Kong correspondent, writing on the 14th of April, states that in his opinion the parties with whom the war originated were already tired of the contest. He considers Commissioner Yeh a good soldier and an able diplomatist. The American fleet of clipper ships in port were freighted with coolies for Australia. The Chinese war junks were formidable on the rivers from their number alone. Twenty thousand British and eight thousand French troops were looked for. Of the United States squadron, the Portsmouth had sailed for Singapore.
