The local chapter of Knights of Columbus have expressed their appreciation of the sincere work and effort of Msgr. Duval for the work he has gone to in the building of the new Sacred Heart church here.
The following few lines is to show the attitude of the organization to his earnest endeavor.
"Thanks to the unceasing and untiring efforts of our Chaplain Rt. Rev. Msgr. L. Duval, who thought, planned and sacrificed to make this dream of a new church come true.
"The present membership of the local council of the Knights of Columbus takes pride in the thoughts that we were exceptionally favored by having the opportunity to contribute both time and money toward this noble undertaking, which was urged on by Father Duval."
Nogales Council No. 1784 was installed May 12, 1915. During the World War over twenty-five per cent of the local council served under the stars and stripes. In 1920 and 1921, night school was conducted free for the Veterans of the World War.
The present officers are: J. Dale Mack, grand knight; A. N. Karam, deputy grand knight; Frank J. Duffy, chancellor; S. N. Karam, recorder; A. de la Torre, financial secretary; Solomon Saba, treasurer; J. M. Tostado, lecturer; Robert E. Lee, advocate, R. M. Ortiz, warden; Juan Puchi, inside guard; A. Camberos, outside guard; trustees, J. Karam, J. M. Valenzuela, M. Puchi and Chaplain Msgr. L. Duval.
