Mrs. Grady Ashley Dinkins, Mrs. Loreatha Peck, Holmes second grade teacher at Mays Elementary school, has been named a delegate to the Association for Childhood Education International meeting to be held April 21-26 in Los Angeles. (see story on page 2.)
ACE DELEGATES TO LOS ANGELES NAMED

The local chapter of the Association for Childhood Education held its first general membership meeting at R. M. Moton Elementary School last Friday. Refreshments were served before the meeting which was opened by the president, Mrs. Clarice R. Littles. An appropriate devotional period was conducted by the chaplain, Mrs. Lee Etta Thomas. Fr. Theodore Gibson spoke briefly on the status of integration in Alabama, Tennessee and Florida. He warned the group "Prepare - do the best job ever - there is a new day coming and only the fit will survive." Father Gibson was introduced by Mrs. Elizabeth Espy.
Mrs. Grady Ashley Dinkins was elected as chapter delegate to the national ACE International meeting scheduled for April 21-26 in Los Angeles. Mrs. Loreatha Peck was elected as alternate. Mrs. Earline Cliette will represent the local ACE in Tampa, March 14-16 at the annual Florida State Teachers Association.
Other business was the announcing of the date for the annual Dramatic Festival, a national project of ACE. April 11 has been selected. The place will be announced later.
MRS. DINKINS
Mrs. Grady Ashley Dinkins, delegate to the Association for Childhood Education International is a 2nd grade teacher at Mays School. She has served the local chapter as secretary for the past two years. Mrs. Dinkins is a native of Lake City, a graduate of Florida A and M University, 1946. She received an M.A. degree in Childhood Education from New York University in 1950.
Mrs. Dinkins has served at Mays since 1946. She is a leader of Girl Scout Troop No. 190; is elementary test chairman, and is program chairman for the PTA. She is a member of choir No. one of St. Paul AME Church, Coconut Grove of which church she is a member.
MRS. PECK
Mrs. Loreatha Peck, alternate delegate, is a native of Plant City. A graduate of Tuskegee Institute where she has also pursued graduate work. Mrs. Peck served as a teacher in Dade County for 12 years. She represented the ACE at the 1955 meeting of the Florida State Teachers Assn. Mrs. Peck is chairman of the Holmes Faculty Study Club. A Baptist, she is an active member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Liberty City.
