FOR THE GAZETTE.
Democratic Republicans of New-Castle County,
The Election is fast approaching-the important day is close at hand, when you are again to exercise the glorious privilege of freemen-to elevate the men whom you delight to honour. Consider well your duty as electors, and suffer not your prejudices or partialities to mislead you. Remember that candidates fairly selected by the people should be supported by the people. Are you then prepared! to give your united support to the ticket formed by your delegates? Every Republican, whose creed is "principles and not men" must answer this question in the affirmative. That every man is pleased to a degree of extasy with this ticket cannot be expected.-Nor is it to be presumed that there ever was: or ever will be a county ticket formed, in which the candidates were all the particular favourites of every voter. "But when a man abandons the ticket fairly formed by his party. because his favourites were not placed on it, he certainly makes men his object and not principle. It is to be hoped that there is not such a democrat in New-Castle County.
If we even squabble in forming a ticket; let us, as they have done in Philadelphia, unite in supporting it when it is formed. This ticket was fairly formed. It will inevitably receive the general support of the democratic party.--Hence every democratic citizen in the county, who neglects to vote this ticket entire, even though he should not vote with the Federal party, will indirectly aid the cause of his political enemies. Men and not measures are his governing object.
Federalists have prided themselves very much on a division in the democratic ranks. I trust there is no democrat in this county, that will even neglect to vote through sourness, much less vote against his own party and principles.
