That Coolidge Bunk
After reading Cal Coolidge's recent praise of the federal reserve system, we are wondering more than ever how Cal puts it over. If he said anything even a school boy doesn't know we would like to have someone point it out to us. And to think, Cal gets paid for this bunk.
We can understand how the rank and file may allow this sort of stuff to be crammed down their throats and like it, but when newspaper publishers who are supposed to have at least the foundation of common sense put out good money for Coolidge "opinions" we give up. And the funniest part of it is many democratic papers are buying this bunk. There is not the slightest indication of real thought behind those paragraphs of his and they are not even well written.
Of course the federal reserve system is a wonderful thing for this country. It was the most constructive piece of legislation ever enacted by this or any other government, and it was enacted by a DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATION. Don't forget that, and if it hadn't been for the federal reserve system this "Republican Prosperity" we have been hearing so much about the past two years would have bankrupted the country.
Coolidge didn't tell us a thing we didn't already know about the federal reserve system. In fact he hasn't said anything in any of his syndicated "opinions" yet that we have been able to find out.
As a historian, he is a colossal flop and as a critic he's a total blank.
