Key Westers Face Auto Penalties

Last day rush for auto inspection herded 407 cars through the tests at the Poinciana station on Saturday. Archie Roberts, city tax collector said today.

But there are over 2.000 cars which didn't make the deadline, and Chief of Police Joseph Kemp said that since there was no extension of the time limit after month's notice for getting cars inspected, his department began issuing tickets today.

Drivers who report voluntarily will be penalized only $1. Those who are forced in by police tickets are to be penalized $2. Inspection continues at the station in Poinciana, but the stickers must be obtained at the city tax collector's office. Official receipt of passing the test must be presented by owners.
