Felons Break Out by Cutting Through Wall; Three Captured
HUNTSVILLE, May 27-(UP)-Eight inmates of Eastham prison farm, Walker county, escaped last night by cutting through a building wall and three were recaptured almost immediately, Major D. W. Stakes, Texas prison manager reported today.
Those recaptured were V. V. Jennings of Tarrant county; Clarence W. Redwine of Harris County; and J. W. Mann of Cochran county.
Convicts still at large are Carl Anderson of El Paso county; W. V. Cummings of Dallas and Walker counties; William Wayne and Roy Pritchard of Harris county; and H. H. Gaddy of El Paso county.
Most of the convicts involved in the break were serving comparatively heavy sentences. Mann was serving a term for murder, most of the others for robbery, the highway patrol reported.
