Full Text

As the Turks have already commenced hostilities against the Venetians, it may not be amiss says a correspondent, to point out the objects, and the scene of action, because it promises a serious war between the Emperor of Germany and the Ottomans, as well as the Venetians, and the Republic of Ragusa. There are two Dalmatias along the coasts of the Adriatic sea, One belonging to the Venetians the other to the Turks. On the North-East of these is Bosnia, a famous frontier province, divided between the House of Austria and the Turks. Albania, from whence the late eruption was made, is bounded on the North by Montenegro, or the Black Mountains, the natives of which are those Montenegrins who so stoutly resisted the progress of the Bashaw and his troops. The Morlachi, or Slavonians, and partly Venetians, and partly Austrian subjects, so that the massacre made of these Slavonians proves, that the first blow was given by the Turks. Hence may we result a scene of bloodshed through various parts of Europe, which cannot be ascertained by human foresight.
