The Bridge CONSPIRACY.-The Rochester (N. Y.) Union has come to conspirator Bissell's assistance, and boldly launches out in his defence. The Union endeavors to throw ridicule upon the charges against Bissell, but the attempt is a very lame one. The Union copies our article upon the fellow's arrest, and says: -We reckon that Mr. Bissell will not ask the sympathy of the Davenport people. He will take care of himself. We copy the above as an indication of the feeling that exists between the people of Davenport and St. Louis, in relation to the bridge. The interest taken by the Union in Bissell's affairs, can be attributed to the fact that he at one time resided in Rochester, and where he has friends residing now. But, Mr. Union, we do not think Mr. Bissell is capable of "self-government," and for fear that he cannot take care of himself, it is proposed to appoint a guardian to look after him. It is also thought that the air of large cities, like Davenport, Chicago and St. Louis has had a very injurious effect upon Bissell's health, and for his good, it is proposed to install him in a large stone residence, recently completed in Joliet, and presided over by a very clever gentlemen. The Union says we "do not care to pitch into Chadwick, who is a lawyer, and who resides in Davenport." That is all nonsense. Mr. Chadwick does not reside here, neither are we afraid to "pitch into" him, when the proper time comes. There has nothing been proved against Chadwick, but there has been an awful stench raised under Bissell's nostrils. You had better let out the job of defending this chap, Mr. Union.
