POET'S CORNER.

SONG.
Introduced into the Tale—The new Sylph.
or Guardian Angel.

As Love has hid him to the field:
Attend him, tuneful bird
Some solace to his labour yield,
And let thy song be heard.

My weary looks around I cast.
And in his absence mourn;
But when the toiling day is past.
Oh hasten his return!

A rose-tree in our garden grows,
With clustering branches prest—
And underneath my fav'rite rose
I'll let thee build thy nest.

For the kind office that I ask,
My gratitude thou'lt see:
And 'till 'twill prove my dearest task,
To guard thy young and thee!
