Only One Issue.
Cry out the Van Buren office seeking Lecturers. All other great questions are nothing. It is not true—there are great questions affecting the highest welfare of the free white population of this country as well as the colored, at issue, and of as great importance, touching the cause of humanity. The great issue of Slavery extension is, also, at direct issue between Taylor and Cass—if Taylor is elected there will be no extension of Slavery under his administration; if Cass, there will be. And these "one issue" declaimers, in Vermont, are doing what they can to effect the election of Cass and to strengthen the hands of those arrayed against the cause of free soil. With some of these lecturers we admit that there may be but "one issue"—all can read that clearly—it has no relation to free soil—it is simply, whether they shall have office or not: and we do not know the man who knows them, that has the temerity to guarantee them now free from promises and pledges to the Cass party.
