Full Text

A Strange Affair.

It seems that James Foy, lately appointed American Consul at Dublin, is an Irish or rather a British subject and at the same time Postmaster in Castlebar, county of Mayo.— Hugh Keenan, formerly of Pittsburgh, was displaced to get him the office, and it seems to have been done through Foy's relatives in Pennsylvania, who are influential Whigs.-- They tried the same game with General Taylor, before his death, but he refused to do an act of injustice of such a character to his country and countrymen.
