Full Text

The Brandon paper contains a communication from a chap, who proposes to lecture for "the great and suffering cause of Temperance." The pledge he proposes to adopt, is the standard of the "Advance Guard of the Temperance Army" and contains a prohibition of liquor, tobacco, and profane language. The connection of these articles reminds us of the oath administered, not long ago, to one of the folding boys at Washington, viz: "You Solemnly swear you will support the Constitution of the United States, and hold papers to the best of your ability. So help you God!"
