Full Text

The Maine Liquor Law.—The friends and foes of the Maine Law may set their hearts at rest about its repeal by the present Legislature. It will not be repealed—it isn't among the possibilities. The general feeling in favor of the law is much more decided and unequivocal now than at the last session. Boston cannot bribe our Maine b'hoys to do their mean and dirty work. The rumsellers have plenty work on hand just now to look after the Maine Law in Massachusetts and all the New England States. There is a general movement among the masses in favor of this stringent law. We give a large space to extracts and letters in this number, from the friends of temperance, in favor of the law, which is now exciting great attention in other sister States.—Portland Inquirer
