THE DIXIE SAILS TO-DAY.
Transport Will Take Horses to Manzanillo for the Tenth.
The transport Dixie is expected to sail at noon to-day for Manzanillo, and will take about eighty horses. The animals will be for the use of the Tenth Cavalry.
The Logan left here several days ago for Galveston, from where she was to take the Tenth Cavalry to Santiago province. Two trips will be necessary for the transportation of the regiment, and it is expected the arrival of the Logan at Manzanillo with the first detachment will be simultaneous with that of the Dixie with horses for the troopers.
Since she has been in port the Dixie has had carpenters at work on her to fix up stalls for the horses. The vessel underwent fumigation at the government station at Sapelo, and remained five days in detention before her crew was allowed shore leave.
After the Dixie discharges her cargo of live stock at Manzanillo she will take on the Fourth Immunes, now at that place. The immunes will be taken to New York, and from there will go to Camp Meade to be mustered out of the service.
