Warden Beaty Passes Through City En Route to Stone County on Man Hunt.

Warden Beaty arrived in Batesville this morning and spent a part of the day with Sheriff Fike. He came overland from Heber and got a fresh horse here. Mr. Beaty is on the hunt of Yates Standridge and C. R. Ellis, the two desperate prisoners who are located in the vastness of Stone county mountains between Batesville and Mountain View.

Standridge made his escape and it is known that he went into that direction, and Mr. Beaty is expecting to meet other officers who are coming from the other direction.

Sheriff Fike would have joined him and gone on the man-hunt, but a member of his family is seriously ill, and besides he will have to be in Batesville Monday at the opening of circuit court.

Warden Beaty says he expects to be forced to kill the men if he locates them, and he is going with that conviction in his mind. He does not seem to dread meeting the men, and is heavily armed. The escaped men are also armed, as they got all the weapons from the officers of Stone county when they made their escape.

All the men are desperate, and if they meet an officer the first thing they will do will be to shoot and shoot to kill.

Little Rock, Oct. 17. No developments have been made in the case of Yates Standridge, the Newton county murderer who, with four desperate companions, escaped from the convict camp near Arlberg, in Stone county, last Monday night.

Bloodhounds have been put on the trail but the men are still at large.

Supt. Pitcock is with the county officers and their posses and a systematic man hunt will be carried on until the escapes are recaptured.
