Full Text

Melancholy Event.—We learn that on the night of the first of Nov. Samuel Snow, of this town, was killed by a blow given him by one William Dwelley a neighbor and relation. The facts as near as we can learn them, are substantially these. Dwelley and his wife were absent from home in the evening, and as they were returning they heard the cries of their children as if terrified and alarmed. Some other persons heard the cries at the same time, ran to the house before Dwelley, and found Snow there and that he was the cause of the children's fears—Snow thereupon ran from the house and met Dwelley, and Dwelley struck him a blow upon his stomach, which caused his instant death. The affair will doubtless be judicially investigated. Penobscot Jour.
