EASTER THOUGHTS
The Easter bells ring out today,
This message sweet, to bring.
That Christ, the Son of God, is risen
A Saviour and a King.
And while, today, we worship Him,
In countries far and wide,
We cannot fail to see the cross,
And Jesus, crucified.
And know God so loved the world,
He could, in mercy, give
His own dear Son to die for us,
That we might ever live.
That sacrifice should fill our hearts
With hope and peace and love,
And make us worthier for the home
Prepared for us above.
Should make us do for fellow men
That only which is good,
Should strengthen with the cords of love
The bonds of brotherhood.
Should make us strong to cast aside
Dissention, turmoil, strife.
And bitterness and selfishness,
Which in our lives are rife.
So while these solemn bells peal out
The tidings old, to tell.
May we live nobler, for this day,
And pray, in peace, to dwell.
