South Wexford was plunged into grief when the news circulated in the district of the death of the Rev. Wm Canon Synnott, P. P., Templetown, Fethard, who was for over a quarter of a century precentor of the diocese of Ferns. He was a learned and saintly priest, the beloved of his flock, and his final illness not being a lengthy one he was able to attend to his duties practically to the last. Deceased who was in seventy-eighth year, was appointed P. P. of Templetown, in 1866. The interment took place on Monday after high mass and office, which was presided over by the Very Rev. Thomas Canon O'Connor, P. P., Tintern, and at which there was a large attendance of the clergy of the adjoining districts.
