Leaders To Declare
War On Negroes Out
For Graft Seeking

The strategy or executive committee of the
ATLANTA CIVIC
AND POLITICAL LEAGUE in a luncheon meeting Monday at the Masonic Temple heard charges that "two or three Negroes are running out in front and advocating the candidacy of a man in the race for governor who is linked with the Ku Klux Klan" In the light of the charges the league appointed a committee to go to the ministers unions tomorrow to ask their co- operation with the League and other political clubs in the endorsement of a gubernatorial candidate in the July 17th, primary election Strong terms were expressed against "any Negro leader who supports a Klan candidate" We cannot stand any selling out of our people at this crucial time or any other time, one member declared.

The main theme of the meeting was to get out the largest possible vote on June 4th. In order to reach the largest number of people it has been agreed among Negro political leaders that two huge mass meetings would be held June 3rd One will be held. by the League at Friendship Baptist Church and the other will be held at Wheat Street Baptist Church at the same time under the auspices of the Democratic Club, All available space in both churches is expected to be used as a result of the intense interest manifested in this June 4th primary election. All registered citizens are eligible to vote.

In the deciding on the two meetings leaders emphasized that there was no division in our ranks The League's committee voted to work with the Democratic Club in connection with the approaching Democratic primaries.

Rev. M. L. King, vice president of the organization, in the absence of President John Wesley Dobbs. presided at the meeting.
