Deadwood, March 15.—The trial of Travis, Smith and Clark, for the murder of Louis Frankenburg a few weeks ago, is now in progress, and creates great interest, from the fact that the prosecution are endeavoring to prove a conspiracy on the part of the California company, represented by George Hearst, Sam McMaster and John Flaherty, to secure possession of certain mining property, even though violence should be necessary. The entire day has been occupied adducing testimony showing that the defendants were armed by the company, placed in an improvised fortress, and fired four shots by orders of the foreman. The prosecution will rest to-morrow.
