Nov. 29. Some letters from Konigsberg,

which were dated the 13th instant, bring advice,

that the number of houses which were destroyed

by the late dreadful fire at that place, amounted

to upwards of 1500. The Stadthouse was destroyed:

and six Royal Magazines, which were filled with

saltpetre, were entirely consumed. Several

Lutheran churches, with the Roman Catholic

church, as also several other public buildings,

were consumed; and the Kniphoff, a town, one of

the three which makes that great city, by being

surrounded by the river Pregel, is escaped pretty

well only by some of the fire-brands that were

carried into it by the high wind: it was set on

fire at three different places, but was

extinguished in time.
