Residents in apartment districts in Northwest Atlanta were still being plagued early Saturday by nervy burglars who enter the homes and make off with nothing but cash as the victims sleep, police said.
At least three such reports from Northwest Atlanta came to police early Saturday morning, and two of the burglaries occurred in the same apartment building at adjoining residences.
Mr and Mrs. Robert Partridge, 34, of 251 Troy St., N. W. Apt. 1, told police they were awakened early Saturday morning by a light shining in their faces.
They got out of bed, and the burglar ran, but an investigation by the couple revealed their wallets had been removed and that they had lost about six dollars between them.
Later Saturday morning, another Troy St. resident called to say that two wallets were lying in front of his door. Police checked identification papers inside the wallets and determined that they belonged to the Partridge family.
But the cash, as expected, was missing.
Shortly before the burglary at the Partridge home, the same burglar or perhaps another thief sneaked into Apartment 2 at the same Troy St address and removed a wallet containing $10 that belonged to the sleeping resident, identified as saying she was awakened by someone in her apartment. She said she moved suddenly and that the burglar was apparently frightened away by her movement.
At both Troy St. residences the screens to front windows had been removed, the window unlocked and entrance made.
About two miles away Payne Ave., N. W., T. Wallace, 38, of 400 Payne complained that he had awakened by a noise and investigated and found his door standing ajar.
Investigating further, police were told, Wallace noticed an old purse lying on living sofa. Police arrived and entrance to that apartment had been made through the front door.
