Some die and some resign.—The death of Mr. Tudor, Charge to Brazil, of Mr. West, Charge to Chili, and the resignation of the office of Paymaster by Major Gwynne, has given the President an opportunity to reward a few more of his friends. Ethan Allen Brown, President of the Ohio Jackson Convention, and one of the Jackson electors, who voted for the Hero of two wars, is rewarded with the dead man's shoes of Mr. Tudor. John Hamm gets the dead man's shoes of Mr. West, who died on the way. Col. William Piatt, another Jackson elector, is rewarded with the office resigned by Major Gwynne.

President Jackson is more fortunate than President Jefferson. His complaint was, "few die, and NONE resign." But in these days the rewarded are civil enough to die off, and make room for their expecting brethren. Old incumbents resign in favor of rotation. Nor is this all: the Senate lend themselves to multiply the means of bestowing rewards. They reject some who have had a taste of the treasury pap, that others may get a morsel, whilst the sun-shine of reward remaineth. The late receiver of public moneys in this place, resigns the treasury platter and spoon, in perfect good humour, seeing they are merely handed to a brother, "waiting in the patience" for his reward."

Morgan Nevill, it is understood, is nominated Receiver of Public Moneys at Cincinnati, in place of Moses Dawson, rejected by the Senate. This is stepping, at a bounce, from the nadir to the zenith of the party in our city. The intermediates are not regarded.

Gen. Jackson has rewarded three of the Ohio electors, who voted for him!!! But there is no corruption in this! The case stands thus:—"We made you President. We want office and must have it."

"Well done, my good and faithful servants:—Enter you into the office of district Attorney—you into the office of Charge to Brazil—you into the snug birth of Paymaster."

Hurrah for Jackson!
