Full Text

"We see it stated that they are actually agitating the question of repudiating the debt of England, on the ground that one generation has no right to tax another."

So says an exchange. If the plea put in for repudiation is not a good one, we think the further plea, that the people may at some time refuse to be robbed, will hold good. They have in England institutions and laws framed by a few which rob the many and concentrate their hard earnings into the hands of capitalists. The government then borrows this plunder and squanders it on a few favorites, and then asks the people to refund again to pay it back. As long as the government and people are distinct, and the government is the strongest, the national debt of Great Britain will be respected, but when the people come to rule as they one day will, the debt, as it should be, will be promptly repudiated.
