Full Text

A decided Improvement.—It is proposed and argued by several of our citizens to build a culvert between Broad street on one side, and Main and Commercial on the other, through which the waters of the ravine are to pass. The low grounds between the streets can then be filled in, and that swampy territory, now the receptacle of every species of filth, breeding disease for the city, be done away with entirely. Instead of being the cess pool of the town, the stinking hole may be made beautiful and valuable.

Let some one figure up the expense and talk to the property holders—they are reasonable men. Doctors may have an interest in the territory, they are not willing to forego, but we cannot see that any other class have.
