Temperance Convention.--The delegates to the United States Temperance Convention, met at Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon, 23d ultimo, and made arrangements preparatory to its opening on the subsequent day. On motion of Roberts Vaux, Esq. the Hon. Stephen Van Rensselaer, of Albany, was appointed Chairman, and the Rev. Dr. Edwards, of Massachusetts, Dr. Smith, of New-Jersey, and Judge Darling, of Pennsylvania, designated as Secretaries. The delegates were numerous, from various parts of the Union, and a concourse of visitors filled the Hall in which they were assembled, to overflowing. Among the delegates, were observed-the Rev. Dr. Hewett, of Bridgeport; Professor Silliman, of New-Haven; Rev. John Marsh, of Haddam, Conn.; Chancellor Walworth, and E. C. Delavan, Esq. of Albany; Garret Smith, Esq. of Peterboro, New-York; Rev. Dr. Miller, of Princetown; Hon. John Sergeant, and Roberts Vaux, Esq. of Philadelphia, and many other gentlemen, equally distinguished.-N. Y. Com. Adv.

[Mr William Guild, of this place, a delegate from the Newport Temperance Society, was present on the occasion.-- The interesting proceedings of the Convention, are to be published entire in the next number of the Temperance Recorder. It is confidently said that Stephen Van Rensselaer, of Albany, will pay for 100,000, extra copies.]
