SEEING in the papers a short time since, that a monument would shortly be erected to the memory of General James Wolfe, if you think the following worth inserting it is at your service.

For GENERAL WOLFE.

All whom the patriot's sentiments can touch;
All whom the ardor of the field can fire;
All whom the social virtues can inspire;
All whom the sprightliness of youth can charm;
All whom the graces and the lovers warm;
And weeping read. This monument was built
For WOLFE, whose blood was for his country spilt
Britannia's fortune had been rais'd too high,
Had WOLFE surviv'd his matchless victory,
And brought down envy from the rival sky.
So firm the mark of hostile rage he stood,
Still giving orders while he gave his blood;
But pleas'd, resign'd when ravish'd with the sound,
He heard that conquest had his virtue crown'd.
Fresh bloom his laurels ; they can never die,
Water'd by ev'ry honest Briton's eye.
