OSCAR JONES TO NAVY

The following item from Saturday's Asheville Citizen will be of interest to the many friends here of Mr. Oscar M. Jones, formerly of Hickory:

"Three men were accepted for service in the naval reserve at the local station yesterday, all three being sent to the receiving station at Raleigh in the afternoon. Among this number was Oscar M. Jones, formerly of Hickory, who has been employed by the Citizen for the past several months as linotype operator. Mr. Jones was accompanied to Raleigh by Oscar E. Cowan, also of this city, and Emmett E. Franklin of Smithshire, Ill. All three men were enrolled as seamen, second class."
