From the N. Y. Courier & Enquirer of Tuesday.

Extract of a letter from Washington, dated Saturday evening, December 22d, 1832:—

Dear Sir—The Senate did not meet to day.

The House took up Mr Wickliffe's resolution, calling on the President for information as to the number of members of Congress appointed to office, since 1826.

Mr Kenan, from Ohio, proposed so to amend the resolution, that the President should also state the names of all the members who, during the same period, had applied directly, or through their friends, for an appointment, or who had recommended the appointment of any member of Congress.

Mr Wickliffe remarked, that he should have no objection to the President's adding the reasons for making such appointments as he had made, and the number of removals, with the reasons for making such removals.

No question was taken on the amendment when the hour for discussing resolutions expired.

The remainder of the sitting was occupied, principally with private bills; and when the House adjourned, it was until Wednesday the 26th inst.
