THEATRE MAN GETS BLACK HAND LETTERS

Manager of House at Derby Line Mysterified By Strange Letters

T. Henry Hartley, manager of the Border Theatre of Derby Line, has received threatening letters signed 'Black Hand' in the few days. The letters are a warning. 'Be prepared. We will get you at the latest before it is too late or you will regret it.'

The first one read: 'This is your warning. Be prepared. We will get you at the latest before it is too late or you will regret it.'

It was signed with a crude drawing of a dagger piercing a heart, and the others bore a large black hand drawn in the lower left hand corner. The address simply 'Border Theatre.'

Mr. Hartley has not the slightest idea of how he has incurred the wrath of the 'Black Handers,' and is not inclined to take the matter very seriously. However, a quiet investigation is being conducted.
