Bored with the summer heat and ready to try ANYTHING that's different?

Here are some recipes that meet all the qualifications. They will give you a chance to get away from the "same ole vittles" and they have that unusual touch that may tempt jaded summer appetites.

BAKED PORK CHOPS WITH
APPLESAUCE

6 rib or loin pork chops, cut 1 inch thick
2 tablespoons lard or drippings
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 can (16 ounces) applesauce
1/3 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
2 tablespoon cinnamon candies

Brown chops in lard or drippings. Season with salt and pepper. Place chops in a greased 12x8-inch baking dish. Mix together applesauce, nutmeg, lemon rind and cinnamon candies. Pour over pork chops. Cover tightly and bake in a moderate oven, (350° F.) 30 minutes. Uncover and continue baking 30 minutes. 6 servings.
