A CHILD MURDERS A CHILD.-One of the most remarkable murders that ever occurred in our section was committed last week in Halifax county, near Milton. It seems that Jeff. Conally, a little ten-year-old boy, started out from home to go to Milton, and while on the road, met Sumner Stamps, a boy, of about thirteen years of age. These boys commenced scuffling in a friendly way, when the older boy proved too muscular for Conally, who put out for home, his antagonist pursuing. As Conally climbed the yard enclosure, Sumner struck him a blow in the back, and then climbed over the fence. Conally immediately drew a small pocket knife and threatened to cut if further attacked. Sumner pressed upon him, however, and received a blow near the shoulder blade, which severed an artery, causing death in a few minutes. Conally, who has neither father nor mother living, has been lodged in jail.- The little fellow seems to be entirely unconscious of the enormity of the act he has committed.-Danville Register.
