A Narrow Escape.
While out riding last Tuesday Dayton Donica and Miss Alice Hart met with an accident long to be remembered by them. They were driving along the grade of the West Fork road about six miles above here, at a point where the hillside is quite steep, and where some men were engaged in rolling some logs off the bench above to the bottom lands below and were unnoticed by the young couple, as the top of the buggy was up. The log came crashing down the hillside, striking the horse and buggy square completely demolishing the rig and mashing and bruising the horse so that he died a few hours afterwards from the effects. As luck would have it neither of the young people were even scratched and they soon recovered from the shock.—Sentinel.
