London, Jan. 11.-British forces sent to the relief of Kut-el-amara, are within seventeen miles of the beleaguered garrison.
These reinforcements must fight their way eastward through a Turkish army which is believed to outnumber them two to one.
No news of the garrison has been received since the first report of their danger. It is believed that a decisive fight may have already commenced between the reinforcements and the Turks.
Not since the Boers surrounded the British at Ladysmith, has the British army faced such anxiety.
The town of Kut-el-amara itself, is well fortified.
