Biggest Event in Masonry of The Year On August 7th.
The biggest event of the year in Masonry in Cobb county, will come off on Thursday, Aug. 7th., at Powder Springs, Ga. when all the lodges of the county will meet in convention. This convention was organized at Marietta nine years ago, has grown in interest each year since, and this will be the 10th annual convention, and all the wearers of the square and compass remember with pleasure the enjoyable occasion and are planning to enjoy once again the hospitality of that most hospitable people. The town of Powder Springs is preparing to give all who come a pleasant day. It is expected that practically all of the Masons of the county will be present, and the program committee has arranged a most interesting program. Two of the Grand Lodge officers, Hon. N. K. Ballard, of Brunswick, and Hon. Frank F. Baker, of Dalton, have agreed to come; as have Hon. T. H. Jeffries, Past Grandmaster, and Hon. Steve Johnston and Hon. Jos. G. Camp. all of Atlanta, Ga. These men can be depended upon to give interesting addresses. In addition to the speakers, no less than five young ladies have agreed to read and recite, to-wit, Mrs. Louise Connally, Miss Ruth Bartlett. Miss Lorena Vansant, Miss Josie Vaughn. and Miss Lois Bookout. As added attractions in a musical way, the committee will present the Lost Mountain Quartette, and the Gem City Band. This band is known far and wide as one of the best brass bands in the state. and it will render selections throughout the entire day. The attendance at these conventions is not confined to members of the Masonic fraternity and their families entirely. but the public generally is invited to come out and enjoy the day with them, and bring well filled baskets, as there will be a spread dinner.
The principal officers of the convention are: Dr. A. J. Durham, Worshipful Master; Z. B. Moon. Senior Warden; J. Glenn Giles, Junior Warden: and H. H. Logan, Secty. and Treasurer.
Remember the day, Thursday, Aug. 7th. and do not forget the basket.
