M. Gommet observed a brilliant globe of fire, about half the size of the moon, following the sun with a luminous tail of about 20 degrees. It shot forth sparks as large and brilliant as planets that instantly disappeared. The meteor lasted between four and five seconds, positioned about 40 degrees above the horizon near the star Arcturus.
