JOHN WALKER JONES HITS V.A. PRACTICES

JOHN WALKER JONES, Milwaukie, Ore., member of the National Council of Administration of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

MILWAUKIE, Ore. - John Walker Jones, national Council of Administration member representing Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, attacked the VA's practice of charging various non-veteran governmental expenditures to the budget provided for rehabilitating veterans.

Jones' statement was made on his return from a meeting of the national council of administration of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City. The council urged discontinuance of the VA custom of charging retirement pay for armed forces personnel to the Veterans' Administration budget.

The council also attacked what are considered unnecessary expenditures by the VA for traveling and other expenses of high-salaried staff, co-ordinating and planning and supervisory council, whose duties have little or no bearing on direct benefits to veterans, Jones said.
