The Evening Post a Convert.
We are glad to see that our ancient and withered contemporary, the Evening Post, is now decidedly in favor of having the streets of the city thoroughly cleaned. Heretofore when we have proposed to put the street cleaning into the hands of one competent man, with the requisite authority and the requisite means to do the work, the Evening Post has seemed to prefer keeping the authority and duty divided, so that nothing effective could be done.
For a few days our evening contemporary tried picking up handfuls of dirt and throwing them in every direction; but finding that the dirt blew right back into its own eyes, the experiment has been abandoned. In reference to the certainty of the punishment of wrongdoers, the Post expresses a confidence not warranted by its own experience.
