BLOCKADING SQUADRON.
A schooner from this port bound to the West Indies, returned on Saturday morning after an unsuccessful attempt to get out of the Bay. We have conversed with the Captain and a passenger. They inform us that they were both on board Admiral Warren's ship, near the mouth of the Potomac. They confirm the account of the capture of a privateer and letters of marque belonging to Baltimore, by a British flotilla of 2 schooners and twelve barges in the Rappahannock River. The Dolphin, Lynx, Racer and Arab are the Baltimore vessels captured, the name of the fourth they did not learn. These gentlemen state further, that two 74 gun ships, and two frigates are bound up to Annapolis, with the determination to scour every bay and inlet up as high as that place for privateers and other American vessels—and that the Admiral had given orders to all the commanders, of his squadron not to molest persons or property on land. The squadron had taken about 5000 barrels of flour out of small vessels, and burnt the vessels. They offered to sell flour at four dollars per barrel. One frigate lay at anchor in the mouth of the Potomac, and two brigs were higher up so as effectually to stop all trade between this place and Baltimore.
