Full Text

A correspondent observes,—happening to take up the Morning Post of Feb. 23d ult. on Friday last, at the Coffee-house, I cast my eye over the following paragraph: 'The 10th instant, died at Boston, the Rev. Mr. Charles Chauncy, a popular teacher among the saints of the east!' The diction of the paragraph proves the author ignorant of either the public or private character of the venerable Doctor, during his life of piety. If this paragraph was meant as a sarcasm—be it known to Mr. MORTON, that the fame of the Doctor, as a literary personage, and as a benevolent christian, is founded upon too broad a base, and is too extensively established, to suffer the least diminution from his infidel attacks.
