George Doyle fell in a fit at Spring and Thompson streets yesterday. Policeman Holmes of the Spring street squad undertook to keep in order the curious crowd which gathered pending the arrival of an ambulance. Henry Schrank, known to the police, resented Holmes's manner and sprang at the policeman's throat. The pair struggled for a short time on their feet and then fell and continued their struggle in the gutter. Somebody went to get help for Holmes, and when the four policemen who were sent to his rescue arrived he and Schrank were still rolling over and over each other on the cobbles. Schrank fought the others on being separated from Holmes, and it required the services of all five policemen to drag him to the station and lock him up. Doyle was removed to Bellevue Hospital in due time.
