Full Text

The Richmond Enquirer frankly "confesses the corn."

"We did," says the Enquirer, "we did at one time, it is true, speak harshly of the 'man of the iron nerve,' and oppose his election, as a curse to the country. We discovered our mistake, fortunately ere it was too late, and we trust we have made some amende honorable," &c. We have always, unfortunately, continued to think that the Enquirer was entirely correct in its original opinion—and that all subsequent events have confirmed the soundness of its judgment.
