Full Text

The other day while visiting with a friend of mine the subject of automobile driving, of course, was discussed. He told me that he always surrenders the right-of-way whether he has it or not. In the discussion that followed, I asked him why he did this and here is his reply:

"If I have the right-of-way, I unhesitatingly surrender it to the other fellow, for I have been in hospitals to visit friends who had the right-of-way and who could prove it through their bandages."

That is good, practical horse sense. If a man insists on having the right-of-way whether it really belongs to him or not, shows lack of judgment and you might as well let him go. You cannot argue with that sort of person.

A little practice of this kind by all of us will make intersections much safer.
