We hear that a certain great Personage sent a Messenger, on Wednesday Afternoon to a great Commoner, informing him that he had no further Occasion for his Service; upon which the worthy Commoner nobly replied, that as he received his Commission directly from his Majesty, he could not resign without a formal Order from the same Hand.

We are further informed, that on the above Answer being received, considerable Appointments were offered: several of the Nobility and Gentry, in Connection with the present Ministry, and that they all begged to be excused from accepting any such Posts, while a certain King on every [illegible] appointed to a key Place continued in any [illegible] he had
